Starting with Colleges of Education now becoming Degree awarding institutions.

Fast forward,Basic Education has now switch mode of teaching to New Standard Based Curriculum whilst the Pre-Tertiary Education bill is under review.

Mon 5th May 2020. Hon. Minister in charge of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh met University Teachers Association of Ghana(UTAG) over the amendment of the Bill.


This is what he said

"On Monday, I met with the leadership of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) to discuss matters concerning the Public University Bill.

Last week, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-Addo invited  me alongside the UTAG leadership to the Jubilee House to ascertain their immediate needs and discuss the way forward. Issues to do with the draft Public University Bill arose and subsequently I decided to meet them separately at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to discuss these.

After about 3 hours of going through almost all the sections of the bill, I believe the necessary amendments arrived at will make the Bill better in ensuring the smooth establishment and running of our universities."
